Health &

As part of their membership benefits, our members have access to training presentations, training records, safe work practices documents and webinars to support their health and safety programs.

Our overall objective is to establish a strong safety management program for all members across Canada to reduce workplace injuries and provide a foundation to assist our members to exceed local regulatory occupational health and safety standards.

Member-driven and future-focused, the Association constantly monitors changes to workplace safety laws and regulations, informing our members of the potential impacts for their business. For example, we recently offered a webinar on the WSIB Rate Group Modernization.

The following modules are available to active CWPCA members:

  • Lift Truck Operation And Pedestrian Safety;
  • Ergonomic Assessments;
  • Dock Safety;
  • Machine Guarding;
  • Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO);
  • Ergonomics;
  • Nail Gun Safety.

During the COVID-19 pandemic we have worked to keep both our members and clients informed with up to date information on health and safety measures, government financial assistance programs, and other useful information. These communications have been sent out by email but we have also created a dedicated page on our website with useful links.
We have collected data on the effects of COVID-19 through surveys and advocated on behalf of the industry by submitting letters to the federal and provincial governments. The first initiative was to ask for the wood packaging industry to be designated as an essential service and part of the Critical Infrastructure. The second was to request that low wage earners in our industry be considered for the top up program.
